The County of Lambton will explore the advantages and disadvantages of switching to electric vehicles.
County council endorsed a motion from Sarnia city/county Councillor Dave Boushy at its last meeting. He wants staff to investigate a few things.
"The report may include the following, would it be cheaper or not to switch to electric cars," says Boushy. "If the switch takes place, how soon can this happen and what percentage of the fleet may switch."
Boushy says Huron County councillors passed a similar motion last month, pointing out that new technology has moved along much faster than anticipated and vehicles can now travel between 350 to 400 km before needing a charge.
He says he didn't put a time frame on when he would like to hear back, but thinks it will take about two or three weeks.
