The 2017 United Way campaign is off to a slower start this year.
The campaign officially launched last week with the annual "Day of Caring" and is approaching 30% of the $2-million goal.
Executive Director Dave Brown says that's about $580,000 raised so far.
"We are confident that we can reach $2-million again this year," says Brown. "It will be a struggle, we know there's fewer people working today than there was a year ago. The needs are certainly there, so we are very hopeful that we can reach that $2-million goal so we can continue to fund the agencies at the current appropriate levels."
Last year at this time the campaign had raised $750,000 or 40% of the $2-million objective.
The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 19 agencies providing 35 programs and services to the community.
