More people are having to seek shelter from the cold.
River City Sanctuary Pastor George Esser says on average there are about 16 people staying at the shelter.
He says they're having to add about six more beds to keep up with the need.
"First of all one problem we have is housing, we're finding that company's from Toronto are coming into Sarnia buying up apartments, kicking everyone out, renovating and charging double rent," says Esser. "Some of the people that were homeless before that we got housing for have had to come back. Another problem is that it's very cold and people need to get shelter more."
Esser says they're having a hard time keeping up with laundry and could use a new washer and dryer, as well as new bedding and other supplies.
