City Inks Deal With Transit Workers

A new contract agreement has been reached with about 60 Sarnia Transit employees that will see future retirees lose their benefits.

Sarnia city council ratified the four-year deal with the operators and mechanics, members of Unifor Local 127, Monday.

The agreement includes wage increases of 1.5% in each year with changes in benefits -- including the elimination of post-retirement benefits going forward -- to help manage costs.

The deal, retroactive to January 1 of this year, expires December 31, 2021.
