Bluewater Power has sent resources to the U.S. East Coast after an urgent request for help from the New York Power Authority.
Heavy wet snow from a powerful nor'easter earlier this week pulled down trees, branches and power lines, leaving millions in the dark along the Eastern Seaboard.
Utility CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says two bucket trucks and four linemen left for New York Friday morning.
"The team is headed to an area of New York, called the Rye area," says McMichael-Dennis. "In that area, there's approximately 100,000 homes and businesses in the vicinity, and last we heard, the area was still one third without power and many of them going on a week now."
The rush is on to restore power as forecasters monitor another system that could move up the coast Monday.
