Sarnia Fire and Rescue responded to the 100-block, just east of Ontario St. around 4:20pm.
The fire began in a basement bedroom and upon arrival, crews encountered extreme heat and low visibility.
The blaze caused significant damage to the basement but thankfully there were working smoke alarms in the home.
The exact cause remains under investigation but is being classified as accidental.
