Lambton OPP say at around 10:30pm Monday night, police attended the Canada Border Services enforcement building.
Police say a man, trying to enter Canada at the crossing, was suspected of being under the influence and failed a roadside breath test.
A 54-year-old man from Plainfield, Illinois was taken to the Point Edward OPP detachment where breath samples indicated he was almost twice the legal limit.
He has a May 7 court date.
