Foundation Gives To Lambton College And Scouts Canada

The Judith and Norman Alix Foundation has announced funding for a special unit in Lambton College's new NOVA Chemical's Health and Research Centre, that will teach students how to care for patients with acute, life threatening illness or injuries.

Vice President Adam Alix says they're investing $50,000 to support two intensive care units, through the college's Envision Tomorrow Capital Campaign.

"Judy Alix was a nurse for many years, so that one [application] really hit home with her," says Alix. "When you're training new, up and coming nursing staff... that one really resonated with her."

He says they received just over 20 applications to be considered for capital funding this spring.

The foundation is also investing $40,000 to the Bluewater Area of Scouts Canada for renovations to Camp Attawandaron.

"They're looking to replace some of the cabins at their facility and we thought it was a great capital project to get involved with," says Alix. "Just knowing that the Scouts do a lot of great work, so we thought it would be a fun one to be a part of and help enhance the facility that they have already."

Applications for the foundations second round of funding will be received this October.

Information on eligibility criteria can be found on the foundation's website at www.jnaf.ca.
