Sarnia police and the local Alzheimer Society are teaming up to help those impacted by the disease and their families.
If you know someone living with Alzheimer's or dementia, you can bring a current photo to the Sarnia police station on Saturday, which they will put into their system.
If they go missing, police will quickly be able to access their information and hopefully locate them shortly after.
First Link Coordinator Ann McLean says there are about 3,000 people living with Alzheimer's in Sarnia-Lambton.
McLean says only 72 are currently registered with police.
Three of five people living with the disease will go missing at some point. She says half of those will be injured or die in they aren't found within 24 hours.
Saturday's event is being held from 10am until 2pm at Sarnia Police Headquarters on Christina St.
