Busiest Weekend Of The Year In Downtown Sarnia

An event that sparked the revitalization of downtown Sarnia begins Friday, June 1.

Artwalk is celebrating its 16th anniversary this year.

The free, all-ages three-day cultural festival was the brainchild of founder Sean McKnight who wanted to bring people to the core area and showcase local artists and musicians.

In 2017, about 25,000 people browsed through vendors stalls, listened to a wide genre of music and enjoyed a wide diversity of culinary delights.

Artwalk helped spawn First Friday in downtown Sarnia and encourages artists to fix up downtown properties to use as temporary galleries.

Two stages have been set up, one outside the Refined Fool on Davis St., the other in the Scotia Bank parking lot between Christina St. and Front St.

Friday night Robb Sharp & Lit'l Chicago will play on the main stage starting at 8pm while My Son The Hurricane performs at 9pm at the Refined Fool Stage.

Artwalk takes place Saturday and Sunday from 11pm to 5pm with bands playing Friday night and Saturday night on both stages.
