Plans are in the works to relieve the traffic problem heading into Grand Bend but the developers are still looking to hear from you.
The engineers and planners at B.M Ross offered two alternatives to Lambton Shores council earlier in the year, one with a sticker price of $6.7-million, the other at $5.1-million.
Both options would widen the Ontario Street corridor through Grand Bend to clear congestion.
B.M Ross environmental planner Kelly Vader says they held two meetings on June 4 to hear from residents and they're still accepting input from those who weren't able to attend.
She says so far they've had mostly positive feedback.
"At the meetings, we presented the alternatives and then which alternatives were preferred by the municipality," says Vader. "The next step is to finish the environmental assessment, so we really wanted to get the input from residents on what those preferred options were. Some people were still questioning some things, but in general, they were supportive of the recommendations."
Bridge construction would go from October to April over a two-year span so the project won't add to the traffic in the summer months.
The plan also includes bicycle lanes and walkways so Vader says it will be a lot easier for both motorists and pedestrians to make their way into the Bend once the project is complete.
