Three Alleged Drunk Drivers Involved In Crashes

Sarnia police say three crashes over the weekend were caused by alleged drunk drivers.

Constable John Sottosanti says three Sarnia men face charges with two of the accused blowing over three times the legal limit.

"The Sarnia Police Service finds it very frustrating as over the years, between our agency and numerous other agencies, we have been attempting to educate the public and remind them not to drink and drive," says Sottosanti. "These collisions, fortunately, did not result in any serious injuries, but the likelihood of serious injuries occurring was there, and that will not be tolerated."

The first crash happened just before 6pm Saturday at Indian Rd. and Devine St.

Police say a Ford Ranger rear-ended another vehicle. A 62-year-old man was charged with refusing to provide a breath sample.

At around 2:45am Sunday, police received a call from a resident in the area of Guthrie Dr. W and Hagle St. who heard a loud crash. Police say a vehicle had struck the Hwy. 402 sound barrier and damaged a watermain. A 29-year-old driver was charged.

About 45 minutes later, there was a collision in the 200-block of Mitton St. S involving a parked vehicle. A 24-year-old man was charged.
