Palimaka Named SLEP Chair

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, located at the Western Research Park on Modeland Rd., has unveiled its strategic plan while naming its new board of directors.

Alex Palimaka was appointed as chair, taking over for the retiring Bruce Hein. Katherine Walker is the new vice-chair.

Palimaka, who is also vice president of operations at Bluewater Power, says SLEP is in a time of prosperity.

"My role is to keep the organization moving forward," says Palimaka. "It's easy at a time like this when we have a $2-billion investment from NOVA to rest on our laurels. We certainly won't be doing that, we'll continue to push for innovation and progress."

SLEP's strategic plan has five areas of focus, including people, progress, perception, place and participation.

Palimaka says it'll be important to continue working with community partners like Bio-industrial Innovation Canada, and Tourism Sarnia-Lambton.

He notes further investment in infrastructure will be key to continued growth.
