The Sarnia Sting's 25th anniversary training camp kicks off Monday and runs through Wednesday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Dozens of players will be lacing up the skates, vying for spots on this year's OHL roster.
There will be fitness testing, practices and scrimmages throughout the three-day camp.
It wraps up on Wednesday at 7pm with the annual Black and White game in support of the United Way.
Sting GM Nick Sinclair expects a strong competition this season.
"The biggest thing for us and for myself as we head into this year is there are going to be some spots up for grabs, maybe more so this year than there has been in the last couple of years," says Sinclair. "We're excited to see certain guys that we might be expecting to take a step and earn those postitions, and there are always surprises too."
Sinclair says there will be a battle for goalie spots this year, with Justin Fazio too old to return.
He says last year's backup Aidan Hughes will have the chance to win the starting job.
"We've seen some really good games from him, we think he's got a lot of potential," says Sinclair. "It's going to be up to him this year to prove that he's the number one guy and that he deserves to be in the net every night. We've got a couple of other young guys that are both signed in the organization in Ethan Langevin and Blair Coffin. We expect a battle."
There are some question marks this year. Jordan Kyrou, Jonathan Ang, Michael Pezzetta, and Cam Dineen all have opportunities to make NHL rosters.
The Sting will play preseason games August 31 in London, and September 1 at home to the Knights.
Sarnia's regular season gets underway September 21 in Sault St. Marie.
The home opener is September 28 against the Flint Firebirds.
