With a Canada Post strike possible as early as September 25, Sarnia staff are fast-tracking the mail-out of voter information packages for this fall's municipal election.
The letters, that include a voter pin number and ID, as well as a website and phone number to cast ballots, could be in mailboxes in the next couple of weeks.
Clerk Diane Gould-Brown says it's the first time internet/phone voting has been used in Sarnia's municipal elections.
"As with any different voting method, you get positive and negative feedback," says Gould-Brown. "We feel that it's addressing a lot of the accessibility needs in the community, and we've had a lot of positive feedback from people on that. You can vote 24/7 from 9am Thursday, October 11 until 8pm Monday, October 22."
Gould-Brown says if you don't receive a package by September 25, call Sarnia City Hall.
You can also vote in person at City Hall between October 11 to 22.
They're open from 8:30am until 4:30pm weekdays and on Saturday, October 13 and 20 from 10am until 4pm.
On election day, October 22, polling stations will offer assistance at City Hall, Clearwater Arena, St. Pat's High School and Bright's Grove Public School.
