Salinitri, Sting put away Spirit 5-3

Anthony Salinitri's two goals sealed a win Sunday afternoon for the Sarnia Sting.

He scored the go-ahead goal and the insurance goal in the third period of Sarnia's 5-3 win over the Saginaw Spirit at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

The Sting are in third place in the OHL West Division with 15 points, one behind the Spirit.

The first goal of the game was from Saginaw's Cole Perfetti, at 5:40 of the first period. Sarnia's Nick Grima evened things up with his first goal of the year and the score was 1-1 after the first 20 minutes.

Sean Josling put the Sting in the lead when he found the net at 5:05 in the second period, but the Spirit came back with two more goals. Cole Coskey tied the game at 2-2 and Aidan Prueter put Saginaw back in the lead at 16:13 of the frame. That lead wouldn't last long though, as Kelton Hatcher tied the game at three-all for Sarnia just 30 seconds later.

Salintri scored what turned out to be the game-winner at 10:05 in the final frame. He then threw in an empty-net goal for good measure with eight seconds left in the game.

With the win, the Sting completed a sweep of their three game weekend, having beat the Flint Firebirds in a home-and-home series Friday and Saturday nights.

Sarnia is back in action Thursday night, at home to the Barrie Colts.
