Lambton College leads nation in applied research

The accolades continue to pour in for Lambton College.

Research Infosource Inc. has named the facility the top research college in Canada.

The ranking is based on research income, which amounted to $11.3 million in the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

President Judith Morris said it's the result of hard work and ongoing collaboration with community partners.

"Anything we do is based on certainly the work of our applied research department, but it's also the credibility that they've gained," said Morris. "As a community, we work together. We work with the Bioindustrial Innovation Centre, the Western Research Park, and many, many other community members. Our applied research department is voracious in their ability to write proposals to the federal and provincial governments, and our industry in this area and well beyond this area are very supportive of our applied research team."

Lambton also ranked number one in the country with 144 applied research students.

The college's Applied Research Department was formed in 2007.

Since then, they've received nearly $36 million in funding from federal and provincial agencies.

Through applied research and innovation, the college has helped develop more than 60 new prototypes, 20 pilot plants and 300 new or improved processes, technologies and services.
