Two-thirds of United Way goal achieved

Nearly 2,600 donors have contributed to this year's Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign.

Resource Development Manager Rebecca Brander said with just five weeks left to go, they've raised $1.33 million, or 66.5 per cent of the $2 million goal.

"Despite where we're sitting right now, we still have a ways to go to reach our $2-million goal, but we are looking forward to more upcoming events. We have the Procore kickoff chilli luncheon, we have a pizza and trivia day at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and even WorleyParsons is having a popcorn day," said Brander. "All of these events equal to that $2-million in the end once everyone comes together."

Brander said the recent Shell campaign surpassed it's internal goal, giving the overall campaign a much needed boost heading into the final stretch.

The next big fundraiser is the 2nd annual Stairclimb. Registration forms are available through the United Way office or online.

The charitable organization helps fund 19 local agencies providing 35 community programs and services.
