Give the gift of reading

They say children are made readers on the laps of their parents.

Organization for Literacy in Lambton General Manager Noelle Fisher is asking you to give the gift of reading in their Give-a-Book Christmas Campaign.

"We collect new books for babies, children and teenagers, then sort and stamp them according to age and gender," said Fisher. "And then we give them to our community partners such as Aajmiwnaang First Nation, Christmas is for everyone, Forest Rotary Club, Rebound, the Women's Interval Home, the Salvation Army, St. Vincent de Paul, and the YMCA Community Houses."

The books are then distributed as Christmas gifts.

Books can be dropped off until December 3 at any Lambton County Library branch, The Book Keeper bookstore, Poppies Gift Shop at Bluewater Health, and at the Organization for Literacy at the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre.

The Book Keeper is offering a 20 per cent discount on books purchased for the campaign.
