The 48-year-old from Quebec City rocketed to the International Space Station with a NASA astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut and will spend six months aboard the station carrying out a range of experiments.
Hadfield was the last Canadian astronaut aboard the space station.
His five-month mission ended in May of 2013.
