Two suspects charged in violent home invasion

Two men have been arrested following a violent home invasion in the 2000 block of Lanark Crescent early Wednesday morning.

Sarnia police say two men forced their way into the home around 1:20 a.m., and a male victim was tasered while he was laying in bed.  Police said he was then struck in the legs with a baseball bat and had his laptop stolen.

The 43-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment but didn't suffer any significant injuries.

Fortunately, a woman who was in the residence at the time was not hurt.

Maston Mwamanembo Musokotwane, 45, and Adam Robert Smits, 31, are both charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, break and enter into a dwelling house with the intent to commit an indictable offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and two counts of robbery with a weapon.

Smits is also facing a charge of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a probation order.

Musokotwane was released on a promise to appear, while Smits was held for a bail hearing.
