UPDATE: Man arrested in Courtright standoff

A 32-year-old man is in police custody in connection with a barricaded person incident that started late Friday night in Courtright.

Police contained the area around a residence near Emi Street and Councillors Street.

They said that due to safety concerns for those involved in the investigation, specialized units from the OPP West Region Tactics & Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine and crisis negotiators, responded to the scene to assist members from the Lambton County OPP Detachment.

Saturday morning at about 10:30 a.m. a man from St. Clair Township was taken into police custody without incident.

He is in custody pending a bail hearing on criminal charges.
