On Sunday at around 3:30 p.m. members of the Lambton OPP attended the area of Petrolia Line and Plank Road, St. Clair Township to investigate a driving complaint involving a passenger car that had recently been stolen within the City of Sarnia.
The vehicle was located on Petrolia Line approaching the Town of Petrolia.
The OPP attempted to stop the vehicle at which time it fled.
A short time later the OPP had learned that concerned citizens had identified and located the vehicle and suspect on Greenfield Street, in Petrolia after it had struck a hydro pole.
The suspect exited the vehicle and fled the area on foot.
Police were able to locate the suspect hiding in nearby brush at which time a foot pursuit ensued.
After chasing the suspect onto an area golf course and wading through a creek, the OPP was successful in arresting the suspect.
A 54-year-old male from Dundas, Ontario was arrested and charged with the following allegations:
Charge #1: Possession of property over $5,000.
Charge #2: Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Charge #3: Flight from Peace Officer.
Charge #4: Impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
Charge #5: Have over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood.
Charge #6: Driving while under suspension.
Charge #7: Breach of Previous Court Ordered Conditions.
Charge #8: Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision.
He has since been remanded in custody.
