Sarnia-Lambton's MPP is reflecting on what he calls a successful year for the Ontario Progressive Conservative party and Sarnia-Lambton as a whole.
2018 saw Doug Ford and the PCs win the provincial election handily, and the Liberals lose official party status.
MPP Bob Bailey said we're in good shape locally with a number of Chemical Valley expansion projects.
"I think the Sarnia-Lambton area has a lot going for it between all of the work that's going on here whether it's at Imperial Oil, NOVA, Suncor and Shell," said Bailey. "I see a lot of job wanted ads looking for people everywhere I go."
Bailey said people in Ontario are now paying less for gasoline with the elimination of the cap and trade program. The Drive Clean program will end in April, which Bailey said will further reduce the burden on residents.
He said he's also pleased with the work done at Lambton College. They opened the new athletics complex and Centre of Excellence in Energy and Bio-Industrial Technologies.
In 2019, Bailey said he'd like to see an oversized load corridor established locally.
He said he'll continue to advocate for Sarnia-Lambton's homeless population, and fight the carbon tax.
