Legionnaires' DeGurse signs with Sting

The Sarnia Sting signed a Sarnia-local and former draft pick to a standard player agreement Thursday morning.

Nolan DeGurse, a current member of the Sarnia Legionnaires, will join the Sting Friday night against the Erie Otters.

DeGurse was selected by the Sting in the 13th round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection, 248th overall.

The 17-year-old Bright's Grove native has 24 points in 32 games this season with the Legionnaires. The forward had another 23 points in 44 games last season in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Sting General Manager Nick Sinclair said DeGurse is a hard-working player who competes and pushes himself to get better every day.

"Many of our fans will be very familiar with Nolan having watched him play minor hockey with the Lambton Sting and the past two seasons with the Legionnaires," said Sinclair. "We look forward to Nolan’s development and will continue to keep a close eye on him with the Legionnaires as they head down the stretch towards the playoffs.”

Earlier this season, DeGurse, alongside Legionnaires goaltender Jacob Knowles, played in the GOJHL Top Prospects Game in Waterloo.
