Prolonged cold warning ends

Environment Canada ended the prolonged extreme cold warning of the past week Friday.

Very cold wind chills will continue Friday but the weather agency said temperatures will rise Saturday morning as a much milder air mass moves into southern Ontario.

Sarnia's forecast calls for a wind chill of -24 C, -11 F, Friday evening, falling off to -18 C, 0 F, overnight.

During the bitter cold snap, dangerous overnight wind chills were close to -40 C.

Conditions will shift to the other extreme with a high of 5 C, 41 F, forecast for Sunday and 7 C, 45 F, Monday.
