Sarnia police laid two impaired driving charges in weekend collisions but no one was hurt.
At around 1 a.m. Sunday, a car rear-ended another at London Road and Murphy Road and fled the scene. Cst. John Sottosanti said the vehicle was found a short time later at a nearby home, and a 29-year-old man was charged.
"The occupant was not present, and it was determined the owner of the vehicle lived in the area. Upon locating the residence, officers were able to determine who the driver of the vehicle was, as it was not the owner, but a resident of the house," said Sottosanti. "The driver was taken into custody after grounds were formed to arrest him for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and leaving the scene."
Police say early Monday morning, they investigated after a vehicle struck a curb on Murphy Road and blew out the front driver's side tire. They allege the incident occurred after a 25-year-old woman left a local establishment at around 2 a.m. A woman found in a running vehicle back at the establishment in the parking lot was arrested and charged after allegedly blowing over three times the legal limit.
