Legionnaires trail playoff series 3-0 after loss Sunday

Wednesday night is a must-win game for the Sarnia Legionnaires to keep their season alive.

Sarnia now trails their first-round GOJHL playoff series 3-0 after the LaSalle Vipers won game three 5-2 at the Brock Street Barn Sunday.

Brett Vorshuk and Kory Silverio scored powerplay goals early in the first period to get LaSalle out to a 2-0 lead.

Ryan Barwitzki and Blake Butler responded to make it a 2-2 tie after one.

The Vipers went on to score once in the second, and twice in the third to come away with the 5-2 victory.

Legionnaires goalie Jakob Knowles made 36 saves on 41 shots, while Will Tragge stopped 32 of 34 shots in the LaSalle net.

Sarnia allowed three goals on eight times short and scored once on six powerplay chances.

The two teams match up again on Wednesday night in LaSalle on CHOK.
