Sarnia residents are being asked to donate blood in honour of a young city girl battling cancer.
Three-year-old Deklan Biggers has leukemia and is relying on blood transfusions to support her treatment.
Canadian Blood Services spokesperson Stephanie Wilkinson said donating saves lives.
"Different cancer patients can need up to eight different donors for a week of treatment," said Wilkinson. "It really depends on their particular instance. But, it does often take several donors to help one patient. That's why it's important to make sure our events are filled to capacity with local donors. It certainly makes a big difference."
The next clinic is being held at the Dante Club on March 12 from 2:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
All blood types are welcome, especially O-negative which is the universal donor.
