There was a heavy police presence in Petrolia Wednesday morning as OPP officers and the canine unit tracked down a suspect.
West Region OPP spokesman Derek Rogers said officers were trying to apprehend a wanted individual who was not cooperating with attempts to take him into custody.
He said at no time was there a threat to public safety.
Students at LCCVI were told to stay in the school and not venture downtown for their lunch period.
Rogers said the school made the decision to "hold and secure", not the OPP.
The “hold and secure” was lifted shortly after 11 a.m., according to a school official.
