Sarnia-Lambton Rebound has decided not to hold its "Dirty Dash" event this summer.
Spokesperson Anita Minielly said participation in the fourth annual muddy obstacle course race dropped off in 2018. She said it will be replaced with a new fundraising initiative called "Hearts & Handbags for Rebound" this year.
"We're going to step back for the one year, do the handbag fundraiser and take a look at 2020 and see about the possibility of reintroducing it," said Minielly.
She said designer handbags will be auctioned off June 6 at the Holiday Inn.
Tickets can be purchased at www.reboundonline.com or during regular office hours at the Rebound office located at the Dow Centre for Youth on Lorne Crescent.
Minielly said funds raised from the event will support their programming and events for youth who identify as female, like the Girls Mentoring Program and Cinderella Project.
Nearly 500 people attended the 2018 Dirty Dash at Canatara Park, raising $20,000.
