Gusty, cold northwest winds in the wake of a strong low pressure system will make for an unseasonably cool weekend with some snow likely. Sarnia-Lambton could see five centimetres, two inches, of the white stuff Saturday night. Environment Canada meteorologist Gerald Cheng said we're supposed to be seeing highs of 16 C, 61 F, at this time of year. "It's very difficult to swallow because it is the end of April," said Cheng. "However, if you look at the daytime highs for Sunday around the region, it's going to reach 10 degrees so a lot of it is going to melt anyway."
Cheng says it's not unusual to see snow in April, and a lot of it has to do with which way the wind is blowing. "It's just the way that the weather patterns are shaping up right now, and that is why we're getting a cooler air mass behind a system, and that is why we are getting snow."
A mix of sun and cloud with the chance of showers is forecast for Sunday in Sarnia with a high of only 8 C, 46 F. Temperatures are not expected to reach normal values until Thursday of next week, May 2.
