Bluewater Power has announced its highest shareholder dividend ever.
The return to the utility's six municipal shareholders for 2018, is $1,940,000, nearly 15 per cent more than the previous year.
The largest shareholder, the City of Sarnia gets $1,669,000, nearly $143,000 is being allocated to the Town of Petrolia, and over $65,000 to the Village of Point Edward.
Warwick Township receives just over $42,000, Brooke-Alvinston about $14,000, and Oil Springs $6,400.
Bluewater Power CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis is proud of the performance of their group of companies, and said they're looking to expand further.
"We are actively pursuing some possible acquisitions as we speak, those are still in the negotiation stages, but we're always looking at things that make good business sense," said McMichael-Dennis. "Whenever we can make a transaction that brings dollars home here to our community -- it's a great opportunity for us and for our municipal shareholders."
Since its inception in 2000, Bluewater Power says financial returns to its municipal shareholders now total almost $45 million.
