It's a chance to safely dispose of any confidential paperwork you have lying around.
The Sarnia Police Service is holding its 14th annual Shred It Day Saturday.
The event runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Canadian Tire parking lot.
Cst. Nelson Amaral said they want to ensure residents are safe from identity theft.
"If you have credit cards or discs, that stuff can get shredded as well. If it's stapled, it's ok, it will get shredded. We'll take anything that will compromise your identity. Think of anything that has your name on it, anything that an identity thief could take and make theirs," he said.
Cst. Amaral said things like paint cans, magazines, and batteries won't be taken.
Donations are being accepted for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics.
Last year's event saw 11,400 pounds of documents shredded, and nearly $1,800 raised.
