Empty gravel truck catches fire

Black smoke billowed into the sky from a semi-transport truck fire at Moore Line and Tecumseh Road Monday morning.

St. Clair Township Fire Chief Walt Anderson said crews responded before 10:30 a.m. after the back axle of an empty gravel truck caught fire.

"It burnt the tires off of the trailer, so it's created a bit of mess here on the road, so Moore Line between Ladysmith Road and Tecumseh Road is closed until further notice," he said.

No injuries are reported, and a damage estimate wasn't available.
