Sting's Perreault invited to Canadian U-18 camp

Sarnia Sting forward Jacob Perreault is among 44 Canadians invited to the U-18 selection camp next month in Calgary.

Players at the camp, which goes from July 26-30, will compete for a chance to represent Canada at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in the Czech Republic and Slovakia August 5-10.

Perreault was one of two OHL rookies to hit the 30 goal-mark this season and finished fourth in rookie scoring with 55 points.

The 17-year-old also finished fourth in scoring among Sting skaters and only trailed Hugo Leufvenius for the team lead in goals.

After being selected 19th overall in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection, Perreault won rookie of the month honours for December, he was named to the Ontario Hockey League All-Rookie First Team, and was selected to Canada’s U-18 training camp— he wasn’t named to the final roster.

Fellow Sting Jamieson Rees represented the Canadian team that won the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton.
