Sarnia-Lambton is invited to celebrate Chris Hadfield's induction into the 2018 Canada Walk of Fame.
Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley said the former astronaut's "Hometown Star" will be unveiled at a party August 6 along the downtown waterfront at Bayshore Park.
"It's a celebration that Chris went into the Canadian Walk of Fame last year," said Bradley. "They wanted to do something outside of Toronto, so we are one of the first cities that decided let's do a hometown festival and they'll have the big walk of fame plaque here."
Bradley said bestselling author and Dragon's Den host, David Chilton will be the emcee.
Musical performances by Andy Kim and Emm Gryner are also planned.
"We're expecting because he has performed with them before he's going to join them, Emm Gryner, of course, they did the David Bowie song together so there's going to be some really special moments," said Bradley. "There's a few other guests that we're not in the position to announce yet. It's going to be a free party, everyone's invited, it's going to be a lot of fun and Chris is so good at these type of events that everyone who wants to meet him, will meet him."
The festivities will begin at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6 at the Bayshore parking lot on Front Street, south of London Road.
