Conservation Authority watching rising water levels

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has issued a flood watch for the Sydenham River watershed.

The conservation authority said between 40 and 60 millimetres of rain has fallen over the last 48 hours, resulting in elevated water levels.

The ground is already saturated from the rain, which could contribute to ponding, increased runoff into watercourses and further erosion and seepage issues.

High water and flooding have impacted Waterworks and Pretty Roads near Stanley Line in St. Clair Township.

Waterworks is closed between Moore Line and Courtright Line and Pretty Road is closed between McCallum Line and Stanley Line due to flooding.

Residents are reminded to stay away from flooded areas and swollen streams and rivers.
