Alleged impaired driver chased down by witnesses

A 29-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after a pickup truck collided with several vehicles in Strathroy.

The Strathroy Caradoc Police Service said on Saturday at around 3:05 a.m., a 2004 Chevy Silverado travelling west on Metcalfe Street ran a red light and continued north on Victoria Street. The truck then failed to negotiate a turn at Saulsbury Street and drove onto a lawn before driving through trees and shrubs. The driver then crashed the Silverado into another truck on Saulsbury, which then struck another truck and a car that were in the parking lot of an apartment building.

No one was injured as a result of the collision.

The driver ran from the scene of the crash, but several witnesses chased him through some backyards and helped police with the arrest.

As a result, 29-year-old Paul Graham of Strathroy is charged with flight from police, operating a motor vehicle while impaired, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, failing to stop after a collision, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and failing to apply for a vehicle permit.
