A planned maintenance turnaround at Imperial's Sarnia manufacturing site is about to begin.
Imperial Public & Government Affairs Manager Kristina Zimmer said work will get underway in the next several days and is expected to continue for about two months.
"Individual process units will come off-line beginning this weekend and restart at various times within the overall period," said Zimmer in a news release. "Safety is our top priority, and protecting the safety of people and the environment during this work is important to us."
Zimmer said the contractor labour force for the turnaround will peak at about 450 skilled tradespeople.
She said the maintenance will provide the opportunity for detailed inspections of equipment that is normally in continuous operation, and there'll be routine maintenance as well as the installation of facility improvement projects.
Imperial said there may be increased traffic around the site especially at the start and end of the workday, and there'll be intermittent use of the flare system.
