Work is being done this week on Sarnia's erosion-prone Lake Huron shoreline.
Old Lakeshore Road will be closed between Penhuron Drive and Kenwick Street between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday while work is completed.
City Construction Manager Rob Williams said it's to allow for Phase 2 of a shoreline project which began two years ago, including an engineered armoured stone revetment.
"This particular stretch of shoreline, it's about 125 metres that is included in this project," said Williams. "That should help. A couple of months ago we did have emergency repairs in that area. This, in the long run, will help that stretch. We still have some other stretches that we're still working on."
The City of Sarnia included over $2 million in the 2020 budget to replace steel groynes, retaining walls and beach access points along the Lake Huron shoreline.
