With just over two weeks to go, the Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign is still lagging behind last year's pace.
Executive Director Dave Brown said they've raised $1.65 million or 87 per cent of their $1.9 million target.
He said they're going to be cutting it pretty close.
"I never give up," said Brown. "We know that this is a great community, we know that we're still expecting the NOVA corporate gift, which will bring us about halfway further to where we need to go. We know that a lot of people wait until the last couple of days of the year before they make their tax-deducted donation, so we never give up and we're still trying to bridge that gap as much as we can."
As of Monday, Brown said 2,830 donors have contributed to the campaign.
The 2019 fundraising effort officially wraps up on December 31, with money raised benefitting 18 local agencies providing 36 programs and services.
