The home of a Sombra area family, away on vacation in Cuba, was destroyed by fire Sunday.
St. Clair Township Fire Chief Walt Anderson said they were called to a fully involved structure fire in the 3700 block of St. Clair Parkway, near Holt Line, around 1 a.m.
"When crews arrived they found a single family dwelling with flames coming out of pretty much every window, and the roof," said Anderson.
Anderson said damage is estimated at $250,000 to $300,000.
"We're still investigating the cause at this time and contacting the owner to verify some things."
Anderson said the family had insurance.
About 25 firefighters from three stations responded to the call.
There were no injuries.
There was minimal damage to the siding of an adjacent home.
