A special weather statement is in effect for Sarnia-Lambton.
Environment Canada said significant rain and gusty winds are on the way to the region. The weather agency said an approaching warm front will cause showers and thunderstorms to move through on Thursday evening.
Heavy downpours are forecast, with local rainfall amounts of 25 millimetres per hour possible. A few showers or thunderstorms are also expected overnight in some areas.
There is the risk that isolated thunderstorms overnight with wind gusts to 90 kilometres per hour.
There's also the threat of high winds later Friday morning and into the early afternoon as a cold front approaches, preceded by a band of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Power outages are possible in some areas. Environment Canada will continue to monitor this situation closely and may issue watches or warnings.
