Sarnia jail employee charged with smuggling contraband

An employee at the Sarnia jail has been arrested for allegedly smuggling contraband into the facility.

City police said they were tipped off about suspicious activity involving a worker who was believed to be concealing prohibited goods in the food being served to prisoners.

After conducting surveillance and inspecting the food, jail staff were able to confirm the tip, and identify an employee.

With help from vice officers, it was determined that in the latest incident the suspect was smuggling in tobacco for prisoners.

The worker was arrested on Monday as she was walking into work.

Megan Deanna McIsaac, 25, of Sarnia is charged with breach of trust by a public officer.
