City police seize Taser in traffic stop

A 36-year-old Port Franks man has been charged after Sarnia police seized a Taser during a traffic stop on Roger Street.

Police said a vehicle was stopped for a moving violation just after 5 p.m. Monday, April 27, and a passenger was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant for breaching probation.

They said a search of his backpack allegedly turned up a functioning handheld taser, which is a prohibited weapon in Canada.

The man is now charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, and was released on an undertaking.
