Mother Nature making waves again along Lake Huron shore

Mother Nature is making waves along the Lake Huron shoreline again.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority said a strong wind warning is in effect for the lake's south end.

Sustained north winds of 30 kilometres per hour with gusts of 55 kilometres per hour or more will persist Monday, subside Monday night, and resume Tuesday afternoon.

Waves up to one-and-a-half metres are expected.

The authority said wind-driven wave action with possible erosion and minor flooding is expected along the shoreline, particularly in the Old Lakeshore Road area of Bright's Grove. Roads along the shoreline may be closed.

Residents are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to slippery banks and cold, swift-moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.

A flood watch will remain in effect until Wednesday unless otherwise updated.
