A parade of school buses lined the street outside Sarnia's Bluewater Health Friday to celebrate the life of a longtime driver.
Pat drove a school bus for 38 years across Sarnia, right up until schools were closed in March due to COVID-19.
After recently being admitted to Bluewater Health’s Palliative Medicine floor for end-of-life care, the hospital and Pat's daughter arranged for all Pat's past coworkers to drive by the hospital in their buses.
Pat watched from the hospital's palliative care patio as the buses, decorated with pink hearts, paraded down Maria Street with the drivers waving up at her and handing signs to her family.
The hospital says Pat was overjoyed with the parade, talking on the phone with her daughter and telling the nurses about her six great-grandchildren.
Once the parade was over, Palliative Medicine Manager Jody McGregor was able to decorate Pat's room with the signs made by coworkers and family.
