Police deliver fishing pole, birthday wishes to Sarnia residents

Sarnia police officers performed a sign language version of "Happy Birthday" and delivered a fishing pole to a city resident Sunday morning, in an effort to make a positive impact across the community.

Police say they received a call from a man frustrated with being limited in his activities, who enjoyed fishing but lacked the equipment to do so.

To solve the problem, officers Boyd and PC Van Vlymen visited the man's residence and dropped off a new rod.

The same morning, Cst. Wyville had a few minutes to take a drive down McCrie Street to wish Michael a happy birthday in sign language, thanks to some help from an instructional sign language video on YouTube.

The service says it's not everyday police officers get an opportunity to make a positive impact on people’s lives.
