Catholic school board virtual learning website goes live

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board's virtual learning website went live on Thursday with online classes set to begin Monday.

Director of Education Deb Crawford said daily schedules and routines are posted.

"It's on our board website," said Crawford. "You'll find our virtual schools tab, and that will bring you to a website where it's divided up under tabs that will give parents and students information about student devices and information services support. There's a tab for remote learning which outlines the school day schedule."

Crawford said timetables will be emailed to students Thursday or Friday.

"The school day runs 225 minutes of synchronous learning, or live learning, and then about 75 minutes where it will be non-synchronous independent work," she said. "With our kindergartens, it's about 100 minutes of live with about 120 minutes of asynchronous where kids are doing some activities off of that. So, it's pretty much a regular school day of 300 minutes."

On its website, the Lambton Kent District School Board said teachers are notifying parents by the end of this week by phone to provide details about the Virtual Learn at Home process.

Over 1,000 Catholic elementary and secondary students and 3,000 in the public board have opted for at-home learning.
